Baker square amenities

Baker Square has a very well equipped gym located on the first floor of the Park Mill building. The gym is open 4:00 am to Midnight. Excercise equipment includes the following:

Baker Square Condos has a lap pool and hot tub for available for residents year-round. The lap pool is ideal for exercising.

The Fitness Center and Lap Pool, located in the Park Mill building first floor, are open from 4:00 am to midnight daily for the private use of residents and up to two guests when accompanied by a resident. Persons under 14 years of age must be supervised by an adult while using the Fitness Center, pool, Jacuzzi or saunas, and are not allowed in the pool area after 6:00 pm. 

Located in the Men’s and Women’s rooms of the Park Mill building near the pool and fitness center, Baker Square’s locker rooms and saunas are spacious and well-lit, with  showers. The sauna has a modern design with wood paneling and a large glass door for natural light. Inside, it’s warm and comforting, perfect for soothing sore muscles and promoting relaxation.

Baker has its own private, enclosed Dog Run located along the driveway leading from the parking lot out to the gated back entrance onto Central Avenue.

Through a gate at the end of the sidewalk in front of the Water Mill building, a small, partially enclosed park is available to our residents as well as the general public.

The Bike Room at Baker Square Condos is another great perk for those who like biking or want to be eco-friendly. It stores bikes safely and residents can access them easily, thanks to its size and lighting. It’s equipped with bike hooks, racks, and shelves to keep things organized. It’s also a great place to meet other residents who share the same passion for biking. All in all, it’s a great amenity for residents.

The Bike Room is located in the Water Mill indoor garage. Residents may store one bike per person, after obtaining a decal from the Management Office which must be affixed to the bike. There is also an air compressor in the Water Mill Garage for the benefit of both bike tires and resident’s automobiles. 

Baker Square Condominiums has designated parking spaces for residents, and there are also marked  visitor parking. The parking lot is well-maintained and well-lit and has clearly marked parking spots to ensure that everyone can park in their designated spaces with ease.

The parking lot also has 24-hour surveillance, providing an added layer of security for your peace of mind.well-lit

Numbered spaces in the parking lot, the Forbes garage, and the Water Mill garage are deeded to individual units and are for the use of residents only. Each unit owner has at least one deeded parking space, and cannot own more than two deeded parking spaces.

A limited number of parking spaces for disabled resident and visitors are available behind Forbes and in the parking lot along Park Mill. They are available on a first come, first served basis. Your handicapped plate or placard must be clearly visible at all times.

Visitor parking spaces are located in the first row of the parking lot across from Water Mill and at the back of the lot toward Central Avenue. Visitor parking is for the use of guests of residents or for those contracted to provide services to the Association or to residents 

Baker Square Condominium has meeting and conference rooms for events of most sizes. The rooms have modern amenities, and contemporary decor with natural lighting. There is high-speed Wi-Fi available.

The Function Room in the Park Mill is open for reservations from 10:00 am to midnight. Residents may reserve the Function Room for private events for a $100 non-refundable per event fee, and a security deposit of $150. Alcoholic beverages may not be served at private functions without the services of a licensed bartender; see Function Room Reservation Form at www.barkanco.com/Resident-sign-in for more details. Please contact the Management Office at 617-296-2287 for information and availability. The small meeting room in the Baker Mill may be reserved by contacting the Management Office as well.

Baker Square Condominium is great for active people who like to have fun. There are many activities to do in the recreational facilities. You can swim in the indoor pool, which is heated all year round. You can work out in the fitness center with modern equipment.

Outside, there are beautiful gardens to walk around.

And being on the Neponset Trail of the DCR, is an 8 mile round trip bike trail  (from Mattapan Square to Finnegan Park in Port Norfolk) and work is being done on a new trail extension to connect to the Harborwalk and plans are in the works to connect it to Blue Hills

Adjacent to our property, next to the Water Mill behind the fence and extending the length of the property back to Central Avenue, is a small Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) park, and a walkway along the Dorchester side of the river. This public park is state property, reached by a pedestrian easement along our driveway, and their rules are posted. It connects to the DCR Lower Neponset River Trail, via the railroad bridge that crosses the river from this small park. Open year-round, dawn to dusk, the Lower Neponset River Trail follows the path of a former railroad bed along the shore of the Neponset River. Traversing a rich variety of historical and ecological contexts, the 2.4 mile path serves to link the Neponset area to the larger network of DCR trails. The trail stretches from the historic Port Norfolk neighborhood in Dorchester, through Pope John Paul II Park, across Granite Avenue through the Neponset marshes, and through the Lower Mills area to Central Avenue in Milton. The final link from Central Avenue to Mattapan Square, was opened in the Spring of 2017; a visually striking bridge crosses the river midway along that stretch.

The Baker Square Condominium is situated in Lower Mills Dorchester, across the river from Milton village which is a small town feel located near Boston, offering plenty of dining and shopping options. Residents can choose from various dining options, including cafés and upscale restaurants. Steel and Rye is a popular bakery and restaurant that serves sandwiches, salads, soups, and a full dinner menu with a liquor license. Lower Mills Tavern offers fresh seafood and farm-to-table dishes, while The Bowery serves creative cocktails and American cuisine. There are also antique stores, liquor stores, bakeries, and flower shops nearby. In addition to dining and shopping, Lower Mills offers outdoor activities such as walking or biking on the nearby Neponset River Greenway, parks, and outdoor spaces for picnics or playing with pets. Living in Baker Square Condominium means being part of a lively and charming community with plenty of activities to enjoy.

There is an abundance of dining spots within one city block of Baker, ranging from casual to fine dining and including American, Bistro, Italian, Mexican, and Thai cuisines.

Baker Square has a cutout in front of the Baker building which can fit two to three vehicles. This is for 15 minute parking to load and unload items from or to your car.

We ask that you respect the 15 minute time limit and leave your blinkers on while away from your vehicle, and we ask that you please try to park in such a way as to leave as much room as possible for other vehicles.

Temporary parking is also available along the curb of the cobblestone street on the opposite side. We ask that you respect the same time limit and leave your blinkers on when not near your vehicle.

The Baker parking lot has one to (a maximum of) two outdoor parking spaces deeded to each unit as well as clearly marked visitor spaces along the left hand side of the main parking area, and along the back driveway leading to Central Ave. Cars parked overnight must have a yellow tag supplied by management for each unit clearly displayed. Overnight parking for visitors is restricted to two nights.

The Forbes building has indoor parking in the basement and there is additional indoor parking in the Water Mill building at street level.

Vehicles parked in the cutout and along the cobblestone street, and vehicles parked in visitor spaces or resident spaces in an unauthorized fashion are subject to towing.

Baker Squareis conveniently located on the Mattapan Trolley of the MBTA’s red line. This historic neighborhood has numerous stops on this route, making it an ideal place to reside. Living here allows you to make the most of all the attractions that Boston has to offer.

The Milton stop on the MBTA Red Line Trolley extension is diagonally across the street from Baker Square, on Adams Street. The Central stop is located near the back end of our parking lot. The trolley is free and it connects to the Ashmont stop of the red Line itself. The trolley itself runs along the bank of the Neponset River directly across from Baker.

One of the cars that runs on the line is the longest running operational trolley car in the United States.
